Gainesville-Hall County is a magnet for top talent needed by today’s technology and life science businesses. Elan Pharmaceutical, Merial Select, Theragenics and Keil Laboratories are just a few of the Gainesville-Hall County firms that have experienced the “lake effect” of accumulating talent on the Northeast side of Metropolitan Atlanta.
A number of assets support local life sciences and technology companies in Gainesville-Hall County, including the Centers for Disease Control, Emory University, the University of Georgia, the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Atlanta University Center. is an effort to provide increased support to the Economic Development Council of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce in attracting a balanced array of industry and business, with a special focus on "New Economy" technology-related companies. In addition, the Program is designed to assist with the expansion of existing technology-related industries that are already located in Hall County.
From the Long-term visioning process known as “Vision 2030,” Technology and life science related business growth and job opportunities were repeated elements in citizen input.
